The Biotechnology Education and Research Center (BERC) has been established science 1999 in the National Taiwan Ocean University, with promoting the excellence in both biotechnology teaching and research, training programs to encourage the integrative and cooperative in the high-tech arena.

The faculty members associated to the center are mainly from Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology, Institute of Marine Biology, Department of Food Science, Department of Aquaculture and other relative colleges. Dean for College of Life Sciences decided to set up a committee chaired from members of BERC by President and the committee to design a teaching program for biotechnology.

After setting up BERC, the committee establishes and manages the “Biotechnology Core Techniques” including advanced courses, core courses, initiate key courses and teaching laboratories for modern biotechnology. BERC not only stresses on students to understand the knowledge of biotechnology, but also helpes to promote the development of industry.
